Lux Creator - Vanuatu

The general cargo vessel Lux Creator is seen in this photograph while transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the afternoon hours of a day in July of 1989. At the time it was taken she was sailing southbound in the canal north of lock 1 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada destined for Thunder Bay to load grain. Photograph by Willem VanMaanen

This ship was built in Spain and entered service in December of 1982 as (a) Prion. At that time she flew the Spanish flag but a sale in November of 1987 saw her name change to (b) Lux Creator and her flag change to Vanuatu. Late in 1989 she was sold and renamed (c) Riomar and reflagged to Cyprus. Nine years later she was renamed (d) Riomare however her flag was not changed. When this picture was added to the archives she was still reported as operational as Riomare.
