This ship was built in Russia during 1977 and she entered service during November of that year as (a) Kapitan Izhmyakov. In 1992 after Russia broke up this ship was transferred to the Lithuanian Shipping Corporation, reflagged to Lithuania and renamed (b) Kapitonas Izmiakov. In July of 1996 she was given her third name (c) Kapitonas Marcinkus although she retained the Lithuanian flag.
