This ship was built in the U.S.S.R. and entered service during August of 1979 as (a) Kapitan Vavilov. At that time she flew the flag of Russia. When that country broke up in the early 1990s, this ship was transferred to the Lithuanian Shipping Corporation and renamed (b) Kapitonas Vavilov during February of 1992. In January of 1996 she was renamed (c) Kapitonas Domeika and when this photograph was added to the archives she was still operational under this name.
