The 1977-built, 15,081-dwt, 9,184-grt Freedom Class general cargo vessel Reliant is seen in this photograph while she was transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the early morning hours of September 11th, 1991. She had just departed from lock 1 which is in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada and was headed for the Atlantic Ocean with a cargo of grain.

She was built in Japan by Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries in Tokyo, Japan for the Reliance Shipping Corporation. She entered service during the late summer of 1977 as Reliant. In the time since her construction she sailed as Reliant (96), Solon (98) and finally Capt Antonis until she was retired. During April of 2001 Stella Navigation of Kingstown, St. Vincent sold the ship to breakers in Bangladesh for around $740,000 (US). Sometime during May Capt Antonis arrived at Chittagong, Bangadesh and ran herself ashore. There she was later reduced to scrap.
