The 1982, 9,864-dwt, 7,591-grt, heavy load carrier Scan Trader is seen in this photograph while she was transiting upbound in the Welland Canal during the morning hours of December 6, 2002. At the time this picture was taken she was sailing southbound in the canal just south of lock 7 which is located in Thorold, Ontario, Canada. Photograph by Jeff Cameron. She was built in Husum, West Germany by Husumer Schiffswerft inh. Gebr. Kroeger GmbH & Co. Ltd. for Mammoet Shipping B.V. and she entered service during September of 1982. She was one if six similar heavy load carriers that were built during the early 1980s. The others were Thor Scan, Project Americas, Project Arabia, Project Europa and Project Orient. Titan Scan sailed until September of 2002 under this name before becoming Scan Trader. When this picture was added to the archives in 1/2003 she was still operational as such.
