| The petroleum products tanker Gulf Canada is seen in this photograph
as she was transiting downbound in the Welland Canal during the early afternoon hours of August
27th, 1972. She was built in 1952 and originally sailed as B.A. Peerless for the British American Oil Company. In 1969 she was sold to Gulf Oil Canada Ltd., and renamed Gulf Canada. In 1984 she was sold to Can-Coast Marine Ltd. and renamed Coastal Canada and in 1989 she laid up for the last time in Halifax. On March 22nd, 1990 she arrived in Alang, India where she was scrapped..
