Additional details

KAVO YERAKIS went to anchor this morning at 02:41 to await a Welland Canal pilot. At 08:45 the pilot arrived however the ship developed troubles in the engineroom. It seemed that repairs would only take an hour or so at first but as time rolled on it became evident that the problem was more than what was originally suspected. Apparently a malfunction with a pneumatic system somehow related to starting the engine was the culprit and it was soon after determined that the ship would remain at anchor. The pilot was taken off around 14:00

The PACIFIC STANDARD made another visit to the canal today however the unusual thing about this transit was that she was pushing the McASPHALT 401. This has been a job that has been filled by McKeil's John Spence For the past couple of years (click here to see the Spence with the 401). Apparently John Spence has been re-assigned for the time being and has travelled to the east coast to work for a while. Perhaps in the coming days Pacific Standard's regular charge, the barge Ocean Hauler, will arrive also with a different tug at the stern.

ALEXANDRIA passed down the canal today and it was found that she was not the same Alexandria that was listed on June 14th/15th. The info on those days has been corrected. This Alexandia is much larger than the one I thought passed upbound back then. When the pictures return from developing I'll put one up so you can see the difference between the Greek Alexandria and the Antiguan registered Alexandria.
